It's time to audition! A lesson in type-casting

It's the penultimate week of acting for screen! I've very much enjoyed this section of our Skills lessons as it's something I'd done very little of before attending university and something I believe I have improved in. I also realised that I am better on screen than I initially thought I would be, so I shall be pursuing this avenue of performance more once I graduate.
For this lesson, we had been cast by Evi in a scene for a mock audition. We had been cast based on our performance from the previous week and given characters that we would be chosen for in the industry. For this, I was cast as 'Jo' in 'Friday Night Dinner', alongside Becky Bloom who read for 'Ellie'. It was a challenge to do a comedic script as my past scripts had been more on the dramatic side, however I enjoyed the challenge and feel that the character suited me. One big challenge that Becky and I faced was ensuring that we were looking in the same place. After the first take, we watched it back and realised we were looking in totally different places, which was very distracting for the viewer and made the scene unnatural. We then decided to mark a place in the room where we would we both look. However, our eyeline was still slightly different so this is something I still need to work on. I feel like the movement choices we made in the scene were successful as we get laughs from those watching and we made the characters relatable and real.
